I was so excited to finally be moving from our cramped little loft apartment to a sprawling ranch house out in the country.

We had scrimped and saved for the down payment on our dream house and couldn’t wait to get moved in. What we didn’t know when we bought the house was that cable wasn’t available in that area.

Cable had been included with our utilities at the loft so it was something we never gave a second thought about.

So we get moved in, with no TV access. To be honest, we really didn’t miss it much those first few days.

We’d come home from work, grab a bite to eat and unpack boxes till time for bed. But when everything was finally unpacked and in place, we began to feel the void of no TV. I knew I had to find a way for us to get our favorite shows back.

A guy at work told me I should check out Direct TV. That’s what he had and he liked it. What he didn’t tell me was how many hoops you have to jump through trying to find the best deal.

It only took three phone calls for me to get so disgusted with the lack of knowledge on the other end that I decided to look for the answers myself. So I turned to the ‘net.

I must’ve gone to 20 websites, most of them either confusing to navigate or full of obnoxious graphics, or in some cases, both.

They all claimed to be authorized dealers for Direct TV. They all had some special promotion to offer.

But then I found this one (click on the link to check it out) and it gave me the option of calling. I bookmarked that one and kept searching. (Note: If you do use these guys, make sure to use the promo code they give you! It’s the only way to get the best deal.)

Then I clicked on this site (go ahead and click on that link, too) and knew I could stop looking.

Finally, no BS, no fluff, just clear explanations of what Direct TV offers so I was able to make an informed decision. Ordering online was a breeze.

I guess my whole point is you don’t have to waste a lot of time wading through all the crappy sites I did.

Now, if you want to go directly to the Direct TV site, that’s cool.

But don’t just go to the homepage and think you’re automatically going to land on the page where they show you the best deals. It doesn’t work that way.

If you want to go right to the source, you have to know exactly where to go so you don’t get caught in a bunch of sales hype. You have to go to the “hidden” page where they stash the very best deal they’re offering at the moment.

If I had chosen to call, I would probably have used them. But for me, it was simply easier to do all my business online.
