Is Direct TV NFL Sunday Ticket Worth It?

August 2nd, 2007 by admin

I was pretty damn mad the day it happened, but looking back, I guess I should thank my buddy Dave for throwing me out of his house.

Why? Because that was the kick in the pants I needed to sign up for the Direct TV NFL Sunday Ticket.

See, Dave had the Sunday Ticket, along with a 52” plasma TV to play it on. So every weekend we’d get together at his house to watch the games. I’d bring a couple of six packs; we’d order a pizza and bet on our favorite teams. Then he met Julie.

Everything was fine for about three weeks. Julie was an okay person, and she seemed to enjoy the games. Then one day, during half-time, Dave turns to me and says “You’re gonna need to find another place to watch the games, man. Julie and I want more ‘alone’ time. You know where I’m coming from, right? No hard feelings?” I told him “Hell yeah there’s hard feelings”, and I got up and left.

When I got home, I sat down at the computer and started looking for information on Direct TV NFL Sunday Ticket. Wow. Who knew there’d be hundreds of thousands of websites?

How are you supposed to know which ones are legitimate and which ones are just full of it? I probably spent about four hours bouncing back and forth between dozens and dozens of websites. It could have been hundreds. I just know I searched and read till I was bleary-eyed. I gave up.

A few days later, Dave shows up at my place. We talk, and he invites me to come watch the game the next weekend. I told him I really wanted my own Sunday Ticket. I even told him about the hours I spent trying to find the best deal.

He just laughed and said “Man, those deals change all the time. You need a site that keeps up with every change.” He scribbled down this web address (click on the link) and said I should check it out.

So I did, and I could tell at a glance it was different from all the others I’d been to. It was professional and impressive, gave clear explanations of all the facts and had user-friendly navigation.

Go ahead, take a look. (yep, you can click on the link to check it out) I learned I could pay for the Sunday Ticket over several months instead of all at once. I was stoked about having access to up to 14 games every weekend, having game highlights automatically downloaded to my DVR every Monday, even real-time stats on my favorite players.

All that and more, for less than what I was spending on that pizza and beer every week that I used to bring to Dave’s house. I can’t believe I didn’t do this a long time ago.

You can keep doing what you’ve been doing to see your favorite games; hanging out at somebody else’s house, like I did, or fighting the crowds at your local sports bar and spending money on food and drinks (and probably paying for THEIR NFL Sunday Ticket instead of your own).

Or, you can do the smart thing and get yourself over to this site and just get it yourself.

Oh yeah, after I got my Direct TV NFL Sunday Ticket hooked up, I called Dave and thanked him for tossing me out earlier. He’s still dating Julie. As for me, well, I met Sara. Now we watch the games together at my house.

The sooner you get yourself over here (last chance to click on the link), the sooner you can be watching all the football you want in your own house.

You can thank me later.

(P.S. This has nothing to do with the Sunday Ticket, but I thought you might find this is cool as I did. Did you know you can order stamps — like real live postage you can use to mail stuff — with the logo of your favorite NFL team on them? Way cooler than flowers and puppy dogs. Check it out here — Harry)
